Restoran Meng Kee Grill Fish (明记烧鱼) - Fish taste just like Chicken?!

As we were walking along the street, there were so many restaurants along the street selling all different kind of local food. The restaurant that caught my attention was Meng Kee Grill Fish because they have two restaurants along the street but separated by a few shops. So to make sure you are sitting at Meng Kee Grill Fish's table, make sure you are looking at menu indicating their shop name.

Another thing that caught our attention is one of the dishes called Chicken Fish. I did not know if these fish look like a chicken? It's a chicken with the fish combination?

We sat down and almost immediately a waitress came over to take the order, which is surprising as it was very crowded with customers but they were still very attentive. The waitress told us that chicken fish only have minimum 50RM size since we were there, let's try it!

The first dish is belacan fried rice, the fried golden rice covered with lots and lots of belacan chili, to our surprise the fried rice was not very spicy (to those who don't usually take spicy food). It was packed with simple condiments such shrimps and eggs, it's the belacan that lifted this fried rice out of ordinary.

Within few minutes after we ate almost 3/4 of the fried rice, salted egg chicken arrived on our table, the chicken at first glance looked like breast meat, which was not as tender, and the first bite of it proves me right. It was not fabulously a must order dish, the meat was dry even though it's drenched in salted egg sauce. The sauce was covered with condensed milk, although I could taste the salted egg, it was a very mild taste.

Lastly, the main reason why we are featuring this restaurant - Grilled chicken fish. As what you see in the photo, it does not look like chicken but strangely it taste not only just like chicken, the texture of it did resemble it too! Be sure to give this a try but beware this fish does contain lots of bones.

Don’t be limited to the food suggestions. Go ahead and explore this food street and taste anything that catches your fancy. Who knows? You just might have your own favorites at Jalan Alor.
